About ToKalon

To Kalon vineyard, Napa Valley - September 2011

To Kalon, Greek for “the beautiful,” happens to be the name of a special plot of land in Napa Valley.  It’s a vineyard where Robert Mondavi Winery sources some of the highest quality grapes for their reserve Cabernets & Fume Blancs.   The property is sprinkled with all kinds of sculptures, and together the whole place represents a vision for the perfect marriage of food, wine & the arts.  I love the word not only because it’s Greek (like me!) but also because it reminds me of a beautiful place saturated with sunshine where some of my favorite themes merge in a perfect outdoor setting.   Here I’ll draw inspiration from the word and document the many instances of beauty (expected or unexpected) I stumble upon in my home life & travels — whether it be food, wine, art, or the great outdoors.
